Our school and community gardens provide opportunities to grow fresh produce, build relationships, and strengthen the island’s food system. From classroom learning to neighborhood gathering spaces, our garden network creates connections between people, plants, and places.

Community Garden Network
Island Community Farm (2012)
Location: Green End Avenue, Middletown
Located on Aquidneck Land Trust conservation land, this permaculture food forest and perennial pollinator garden offers 16 community garden plots plus educational demonstration areas.
Great Friends Community Garden (2016)
Location: Corner of Farewell and Marlborough Streets, Newport
This garden offers 21 growing spaces in a neighborhood setting. A garden plot is held for Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Summer Camp where summer camp students learn gardening and grow food.
Pell Elementary School Garden (2017)
Location: Pell Elementary School campus
Integrated into the school curriculum, this garden provides hands-on learning opportunities where students explore science, nutrition, and environmental stewardship.
The East Bay MET School Garden (2018)
Location: MET School campus
Students engage in project-based learning through garden experiences, connecting academics to real-world food system understanding.
